  • Looking for KT600 sata/raid driver

Hi guys. Hope you can help me.
I'm trying to install a 1 TB Samsung HD103SJ hard drive in a pc.

The motherboard is a Soltek SL-KT600RL and Vt8237 south bridge.

I do have the original cd with drivers and stiffy with sata/raid drivers.

The operating system is XP with SP3.

I have updated the pc to bios ver 1.5
I've downloaded and installed the Via HyperionPro V524A and vRaid 5.9A driver, but every time I connect the 1 TB drive it does not get detected. I've created a partition on the new drive on another pc, but every time i connect it, an "Via Raid controller - 3149" error (exclamation mark) shows up in the device manager.

    I hope I make sense.

    Help would really be appreciated.

    Hello
If you need to connect your drive as part of RAID then you need this drivers you downloaded, but if you want to set your 1T drive as a simple HDD you dont need any RAID drivers.
just connect it to free SATA connector and setup it in Disk Management on your PC

      Thank you for the reply.
Ok, I'm not interested in raid, but the hdd are not detected in bios or under disk management. I've initialized and partitioned and formatted the drive in an other pc, but are still not detected in the KT 600 chipset pc.

Yes, I did. There are only 2 SATA ports available, but I did try on both without any success? I get the controller error in the device manager only when I connect the sata drive.

Maybe your motherboard cant work with 1T HDD even with the latest BIOS

Yeah, I found an old 160gb sata (150 hdd) and it was detected fine. I'm sure if I could reduce the speed on the TB to 1.5Gbps instead of 3Gbps the hard drive would be detected, but the client does not want to to that.

So that is that. The KT600 chipset can't handle 3.0 Gbps.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.
