  • Epson WF-2850 printed Firmware downgrade

I recently updated the firmware on my Epson wf-2850 printer and it will no longer recognize the 3rd party printer cartridges. Please any insight on correcting this or to downgrade the firmware would be very appreciated. I am running MacOS Catalina v 10.15.6

I also updated my firmware yesterday and have spent many hours trying to find old firmware for my WF-2850 to get it to recognize my remanufactured ink cartridges. I refuse to play ball. Folks, if one of you hasn't made such a terrible mistake or has a backup of the old firmware (from 2018 or early 2019), please please please share with us.

I was able to successfully bring my printer to recovery mode twice in two attempts. I started the firmware flashing using the new version of the firmware, and the moment my printer screen said "do not unplug power" (which was about 71% progress) I pulled the cord. In recovery mode, the printer is very receptive to a firmware downgrade, as long as you have the CORRECT file, which I don't. The one on epson's website is only a slight downgrade and keeps rejecting the cartridges, and older firmware for WF-2860 which I was able to find is not compatible.

So, once again, if anyone has the older firmware for WF-2850, could you be so kind as to share it with us? Thanks

https://drivermicro.com/epson-workforce-wf-2850-driver has the correct firmware. As long as you can put your printer in recovery mode, you will be golden.

Thank you soo much stefstef. Of course after getting this my printer printed one page with faded black ink. I had to disassemble the print head and clean the ports, but now im good to go again.
