Thank you tAb, yours was a great idea but meanwhile, I have found a copy of the old driver - identical to the lost one it seems, or very very similar - and it WORKS !!!!

Got it from a site which provides all kind of drivers for free download; not sure whether the rules here allow us to name third party sites or not ?
