Not sure of how MB is working

I have an FIC AD11 motherboard with a first main board CD to down load the drivers etc.
When I had 98SE and I formatted the PC I had no problem using the first main board CD to set up the FIC AD11 MB
I have switched over to XP Home and when I tried to use the first main board CD I get a message telling me wrong OS.
The odd thing is the PC is working fine without using the first main board CD.
How could this be possible?
I thought that the FIC AD11 MB got its drivers etc from the CD
Very confusing.
I would like to download the drivers for this MB but I am not sure if it will help or hinder the operation of the PC.

every os have some drivers that are built in OS itself. if you dont have any unrecognised hardware in your Device Manager then everything is perfect
