DVD Player stuck in audio

Hi Guys and thanks for the great site.

I have an Averatec 3280 notebook/laptop (circa 2005) with a dvd/rw (HL-DT-ST DVD/RW GCA-4080N). I use Windows xp Home. The problem is that the DVD/RW will only play audio from a dvd disk.
