I also got burned by the Trojan Horse firmware upgrade -- the one that disables all printer functions if you don't have Epson-branded ink cartridges installed. Hopping mad and will never buy Epson again, but trying to get my printer working again 'cos I need it.
Here are some breadcrumbs for others in this fix:

https://driverscollection.com/?V=Epson&S=10&hpage=7
However I am unable to find my printer model in the lists at driverscollection.com, maybe it is too recent?
inkchip.net is also unable to help, no support there for my model.
I could also do with a bit more explanation of how the downgrade process works. Is it the firmware installer that embodies the revision, i.e. is each firmware installer exe hardwired to install a certain version only of the firmware? Or do I have to look for 2 items, the installer plus a separate firmware file? It's a bit unclear to me at this point.
